Trelleborg’s marine and infrastructure operation in the UK and EDIT Automation Ltd signed an agreement to work together for the promotion of Trelleborg’s TSX5 Shaft Power Meter in Greece and Cyprus. At the signing was Duncan Gaskin, Trelleborg’s Technical Sales Manager and Markos Sigalas, CEO and Managing Director of EDIT Automation. Duncan explained, “I identified EDIT Automation as a high-quality company that would make the ideal partner for the promotion of TSX5 to Greek and Cypriot shipping companies as well as being able to provide service support for the product too”.
Markos has worked with many prominent Greek owners providing sales of leading brand equipment and worldwide service provision. He has 30 years’ experience as an automation engineer and founded EDIT Automation in 2006 to provide automation services for Greek and Cypriot shipping companies which has serviced over 1500 ships worldwide. More recently, EDIT has focused on representing high-class marine equipment companies and the partnership with Trelleborg will be the next step on that journey. Markos added, “I am delighted to have been able to make this agreement with Trelleborg and to start our partnership for promoting TSX5 in Greece and Cyprus. Through the extensive contacts EDIT has built up over the years, I am very confident to be able to develop significant sales of TSX5 Shaft Power Meters for Trelleborg and to provide a high level of service support for the product”.
Trelleborg’s TSX5 Shaft Power Meters are installed on ships to deliver energy efficiency savings reducing fuel consumption and engine carbon emissions, to offer an early warning for hull and propeller fouling as well as being a critical component of a Ship Performance Monitoring system. In June last year, the IMO adopted amendments to Marpol Annexe VI introducing the Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI) regulations for the existing worldwide fleet. The Shaft Power Limitation (ShaPoLi) method, which can be adopted for compliance, specifies the use of an approved shaft power meter as part of a ShaPoLi compliant system, and Trelleborg’s TSX5 shaft power meters are suitable for this application.
